Sounds like everyone likes PDN, me too. I remember the days when they asked for a box of chocolates in exchange for a catalogue.

Last year I discovered Far Reaches Farm and finally got a Wulfenia!  I got one, a different species, from Bluestone probably 30 years ago, that didn’t do well, but I was determined to try again, but they stopped carrying it and I never was able to find another. This one, Wulfenia x schwartzii, from Far Reaches is doing amazingly well.

So I am on the lookout for more Wulfenias and more underused genera and species.

I was going to suggest Plant Delights as well. Their catalogs alone are worth ordering from them.

I have long ordered from Plant Delights Nursery in North Carolina. They are pricey, but have unusual and well cared for stock. www.plantdelights.com

Hello all,

Two more of my favorite nurseries are closing this fall; Garden Vision and Joy Creek. I really hate to see such fine suppliers drop out, but I understand their reasons.  Can any of you suggest mailorder nurseries you’ve found that you would endorse?

I’m in northeast Indiana so I need Zone 5 plants, if you’d keep that in mind. I will order from the west coast if it’s something I can’t find closer, but shipping $ is always a killer.  So if you know of anything this side of the Rockies it’s better for me but I will look anywhere.

Also, I am very much interested in supporting privately-owned nurseries when possible. And, of course, I’m drawn to those that carry something “different”, not just Proven Winners and that sort of thing.

Any suggestions?  Where are you planning to place your orders for spring 2022?

Kitty
