Cathy, I remember from a while ago that you were talking about
moving to Tucson (I think).  I love the Sonoran desert.   If you have not already
been there, I highly recommend Boyce Thompson Arboretum
near Superior (east of Phoenix). It makes a great day trip from
Tucson area, and is one of my favorite places in the known universe.
It'll really get you tuned in to desert possibilities,
and they  usually have some plants for sale, and I believe have
a book shop.  They have desert plants from many areas of the world

It's been much too long since I've been there!  It's a special place.
