Frances

5 PM advisory says she is headed west northwest of me and the highest probability of my being within 65 nautical miles of the eye are 18 percent between now and 2 PM tomorrow. I can live with that. It means lots of rain and gusty wind, but winds probably below 45 MPH.

My county, Sarasota, has been named one of two destinations for those evacuating the east coast. The gas stations are already running on empty, so it may get desperate if a couple hundred thousand refugees show up. I managed to top off my tank with regular at a Shell station today at $1.90 per. Previously, I had tried several of the discount stations without success. If I had known I would have to settle for regular, I would have bought it at the barn at cost as a payroll deduction.

I've offered to house a couple of friends on the east coast, but as of now, they say they are going to tough it out. I wish them luck. Problem is once Frances gets there, they will not be able to get here [can't got north, can't go west, can't go south--oh, well, hunker down].
