    Sounds as though you already have most everything, but will give it a
try. How about Standing Ginger, Saruma henryi? Morning sun would be perfect
for this plant. Easy to grow with not real demands. Lovely felted heart
shaped leaves resembling our Asarum canadensis only standing upright on a
plants reaching about 18 inches in height. Give three plant start about
three feet diameter at maturity. It has small three-petaled flowers of lemon
yellow that persist on and off all spring into late summer.
I have had mine for some years now and the deer have never bothered it while
eating the tops off my lilies that grow among the foliage of the saruma.
