This has always been one of my few gripes with MG courses. They are held at times when lots of potential converts can't attend. Mine were held on Thursdays from noon to 4 PM over a 12 week period. I had to quit my job [no great loss at the time] to take them. Seems to me if they ran them in the evening like JC night courses, they'd attract a lot more people. But maybe they don't want that.

Me, too, Kitty, and for all the reasons you listed. The people I've met in Master Gardeners have been the most knowledgeable, down to earth folks I have met anywhere.
