Plant Thugs

Zem, do you think there are Plant Nazis out there? I sure do.

Well, I don't consider myself a Plant Nazi. I have river bamboo, Hedera
helix (English Ivy), Daucus carota (QueenAnne's Lace), Hesperis
matronalis (Dame's rocket), Melilotus albus (white sweet clover), Vinca
minor (Common periwinkle), Chicorium intybus (Chickory), Cosmos
bipinnatus (Garden cosmos), and Hibiscus syriacus (Rose of Sharon)...all
on watch lists. But these plants are pretty well behaved compared to
privet (maybe I'll have to burn it out), honeysuckle, Johnson grass, and
Japanese grass and coming down the road is Ailanthus altissima, Kudzu,
Lonicera x bella and Paulownia tomentosa ...complete plant thugs that
aren't invited, seem to take over in the night, and won't go away.

I guess I am just getting tired of spending so much of my garden time
trying to get rid of these pests. Yesterday, when I looked off my back
deck, I saw Japanese grass everywhere and I had just mowed and weeded
for it and also pulled over ten little privet seedlings. I want to enjoy
my good plants instead of spending all my time on these trouble makers.
