Re: Cereus peruvianus bloom

Pity that it's so short lived--and most of that in the dark. It always dazzles me to catch it blooming like that. There were actually two flowers, but the other had closed by 7 AM when Ms. Fatma discovered this one.

There's a property about 5 or 6 blocks from the plantation that has a larger version of this cactus that really puts on a show every year. It must have 30 blooms right now. As soon as it stops blooming, I'm going to knock on the owner's front door and see if they will sell a substantial cutting.

Ms. Fatma noticed this as she was leaving for school this AM. We had a lot of wind and ran last night, but this cactus was not affected, apparently. The flower is 7 inches in diameter.
