Great progress Tricia.... you will be back to your 'better than before' self soon!

Ceres, you might want to go to a rheumatoligist (sp?). He made the
difference in getting my mother back to walking. Although she is still
looking at knee replacement in the future, once she got the correct meds
it made a world of a difference. Metaflex helped but then they started
her on shots who name escapes me at the moment. They are a treatment for
arthritis, not cortisone that was first used by an ortho surgeon (shot
is in arm like any other vaccination, not knees). We switched types of
doctors when her arthritis started effecting more than just her
knees...and while we were healing her arms/shoulders the knees where an
added bonus! I realize you have different issues as in an injury - but
if arthritis is effecting them getting better, you might want to seek
additional help there as well.

Ceres,
I totally agree... you can't compare anyone's knee surgery to someone
else's...
Mine was torn but all the did was vacuum it out... he said I was looking at
knee replacement in 5 years... but I am hoping not...
Did they talk to you about knee replacement?
If it is still swelling I would think you should be still icing it down...
did you go to Physical therapy? My mom had some home care that came in to
help her when she had trouble. Do you know of anything like that with
Medicare? I think this CPM machine is a key factor... but you would have to
have help getting into it and out of it. I have been able to get up to 90
degrees today... started at 30 on Thursday and need to get to 120*
Be sure to get the help you need... as gardeners we need our knees!!!!!

Tricia, I did not have a drain tube and the knee was cptly wrapped. I
used
the crutches for only a couple of days then used just1 for another couple
only
if I was walking a distance. What was your injury? Mine was a torn
lateral meniscus which could not be repaired at my age do to lack of blood
flow
however younger ones are repaired. I think it is difficult to compare
unless the
injury was identical & then age & bodies react differently. Oh, yes, I
am
considerably older! Medicare & my 2nd insurance paid 100%.
I did sleep in a recliner for several days but didn't have anyone to
wait on me. I did keep ice on for a good deal of the time. I haven't
iced for
the past 1 1/2 wks now.
