I always figure I've got a knowledgeable salesperson if he or she just knows where stuff is in the store.

Oooooh -- can I ever identify with that! Since I have been around Home Depot stores so much I have learned that sales people, aka associates, generally know little to nothing about the products they are supposed to be selling. Seems stores today focus more on titles than education.

Silly me, I got too close to a rock with the lawn mower and damaged the blade. Went to Sears, manual in hand to get a new one. The salesperson, who wouldn't look at my manual, assured me all of their 20 inch mowers took the same blade and I had a choice of two weights. Since my mowing is light I took the lighter one.
Got home and tried to change the blade but it was on too tight. Called xDH to come undo it. He broke the blade adapter. Back to Sears. Nope, gotta get that at the Sears repair store. Went there and nope, they don't stock that one. Went home, phoned in the order. Part arrived and I went to put on the new blade - holes don't line up.
Back to Sears to exchange. New salesman assures me, as he lines up the holes visually through the plastic container, that the heavier 20 inch blade will fit. I walked about 40 ft and thought, hmmm, I should check that myself before leaving. Nope, wrong blade. Refund. Head to parts store. Nope, gotta order it.
The grass is getting taller and taller...

I have to agree with you Jim. They would also be ahead of the game if the
were more innovative. With Ford moving plants/jobs south of the border, no
hybrids or truly energy saving vehicles with wiz bang "gadgets" like on
windshield mapping, or collision avoidance, there is little incentive to buy
"American" in the auto industry. Most of the electronics are no longer
built in this company, so it gets very difficult to monitor quality
standards. Of course, that is just my opinion.

Doesn't that crank you up? I had a motherboard replaced once by a defective
motherboard. And they wonder why GM and Ford are in trouble.

I agree with Bonnie M. A couple of years ago, we had to have a tree------------------------------------------------------------------- --
taken down. I had an expert group come out...all the difference in
the world.
They ended up taking three down and pruning out a large oak without
damaging anything around them, including my garden plants. I was
very impressed.
If you have them do any tree pruning, insist that they don't use
spikes as they can transmit disease. Good luck on all.

Very likely. I've got a big old hackbarry coming down and the tree
guy
willcall me tomorrow to hopefully come out here this weekend. If it
goes down w/out help, I'll lose the back of the house and about half
my landscaping out back so I'm holding my breath.

One of the outlets had a wire that was loose- not detached, just
loose. So, sometimes it worked and other times it didn't. What a

took me several uneasy days and replacing 3 outlets before I
figured it out. And the electrician never did call back. Oh well,
obviously I was meant to figure it out myself. and I'm sure saved a
small fortune.

I am on an old fashioned dial-up connection, cause we got the new
DSLmodem, but apparently there is a problem with the line. Great-
so
theyare supposed to come fix it tomorrow.
Also- because I live in the electronics twilight zone- 2 days
ago,
theelectric went out in a couple of the plugs in the dining room. I
checked everything, GFCI plugs, circuit breakers, replaced 2 of
the
actual outlets, etc. No clue what the problem is- but makes me
kind of
nervous (think visions of electical fire). So yesterday PM my
neighborwho is a commerical/industrial electrician came and checked a few
things- but nothing obvious. Called an electrician today
recommended by
a friend- they still haven't called back. great. So, today,
neighbor
came back and checked one more thing- in the process we both
realizedthat the plugs were working again- no idea why. So later this
evening I
plugged in by cell phone to charge- and guess what- it doesn't
work
again!@
What a pain- I'm calling a new electrician tomorrow AM, before
headingout for a funeral. Keep your fingers crossed nothing horrible
happens------------------------------------------------------------------ ---while I'm away for the day tomorrow. It would be so nice to get something working again tomorrow. Theresa
