The only basil seeds I have seen are tiny black bead like seeds. If it is like my big leaf variety. They send up a seed head and when they mature the black seeds fall out. Maybe you can lay a sheet under it for when they fall out.

Been a long time since I planted basil seeds. I can't remember what they look like. I have a "Basilica" variety from Italy with leaves as big as 4X6 inches that is now going to seed. I'd like to save some seeds for planting in February, but I don't know what I'm looking for in the chaff. Advice?
