Hi, Bonnie, thanks. I was in touch with them a month or two ago and they said they were adding me to their list and would be back in touch. And, yeah, being able to sail through the Northwest Passage without an icebreaker leading the way is scary.

Jim...Cocorahs is coming to Florida on October 1...the map is already onthe system. Are you joining in the effort? http://www.cocorahs.org/ The links provided are very interesting...especially for plant people. I am about over this year. We are having summer weather still...in thehigh 80s. If we hit 90 today, which it looks like we might, it will set anall time record. Usually, I love each season with itsdifferences...especially in plants...but, this year, with the drought and heat, I am over summer. We had some cool, now warm...so, of course, spring shrubs are beginning to bloom again. Poor plants. I lost several thingsto the drought and temps so I decided to just let them go and deal with sirvivors.Did you guys notice that this year, for the first time in recorded history, ships made it through the Northwest Passage?[Original Message] From: james singer <islandjim1@verizon.net> To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Date: 9/24/2007 7:10:18 AM Subject: Re: [CHAT] Where is everyone? Outside?A few years ago, we picked up an inexpensive food dryer from freecycle.American Harvest "Snack Master." It works well, except the racks are not very deep, which limits what will fit in it. So instead of drying whole poblano peppers, we dry pieces of poblano peppers. Anyway, for the lemongrass, we just cut it with scissors into 1-2 inch pieces and dry it. We haven't done anything with it yet, but the original idea was to make tea from it. But now I want to get enoughdried so I can pulverize some in the spice mill and see if it holds itsflavor well enough to be used in cooking. Outside?Merry equinox! Hope your URI is better. Ms Fatma usually gets one that coincides with the start of the school year. Not much happening here. We've been entertaining a tropical depression for a few days, which has provided about 6 inches of rain thus far with more promised for today. Between showers, we've been picking avocados, starfruit, key limes, and various peppers. Just as soon as it dries out a little, I want to get a bunch of lemongrass into the drier, but it's just too wet to fool with right now.
