Just a heads up.
On Tuesday morning, after running the dishwasher, I noticed that my favorite
knife had fallen to the bottom. I went to retrieve it and the back of my
finger briefly touched the heating rod. To my great surprise, it was
incredibly hot and gave me a bad 3rd degree burn - worse than that I've had
when touching something in the oven.
It never occurred to me that the rod would be hot, since we don't use the hot
dry cycle and the dishwasher had shut itself off some time before. I suppose
it's one of the new "get the water hot enough to kill germs" things. I've used
a dishwasher for more than 4 decades and never had a dishwasher bite me.
Doggone thing still hurts and keeps me up at night.
