OUCH....it's $3.43 here, just filled up this morning. We had lines here at
the gas stations, many were damaged, and trucks were unable to deliver, so
there was a shortage for about a week after Ike. Some areas harder hit might
still have stations closed, and thus long lines. No line this morning when I
filled up, but that was at our subdivision gas station.
Houston refineries produce 20-25% of the daily consumption for the US. The
platforms were shut down for several days, and several were damaged and still
offline. The refineries being on the coast suffered some damage from
flooding, storm surge, etc. so they are/were slow to get started. The Houston Port
and ship channel were damaged, being closed for almost a week for clean
up....not even sure if they are completely operational. They said that all this
would have a some impact on the rest of the nation.

interseting up here in IL doesn't seem to be a shortage and prices are
actually going down... well, lower anyways. Ike weekend it went up to 4.35,
yesterday I filled up at 3.95
