   ALMOND BOARD OF CALIFORNIA

This site claims that eating nuts 5 times a week cuts heart attack
risks in half. It's easy to do with a little help from their gourmet
recipe file (Mmmm... Apricot-almond tea bread!) and surprising news
(to us at least) that almonds actually lower levels of LDL
cholesterol (the bad kind) while preserving HDL cholesterol levels
(the good kind). If you're a grower or foodservice professional the
Almond Board can help you out too -- they provide links, tradeshow
information, newsletters, growing tips and calendars, and a list of
   almond suppliers.

   AMPAC SEED COMPANY

"Ampac Seed Company is a worldwide wholesale supplier of quality
turfgrass and forage seeds, providing many seed related services
including contract production, varietal acquisition, and proprietary
seed marketing." Their site includes "turfgrass information so thick
you'll need a mower," all kinds of information about forage seeds,
   links, and more.

   UC FRUIT & NUT CENTER

This "California Digital Orchard" is a collaboration between three
California universities to conduct research on fruit and nut crops.
They share their findings with the industry and growers, and via this
Web site, with you! Their organizational scheme is unique and
brilliant -- selecting a single crop immediately provides you with
current research activities, pest management, past research, and
project proposals about that crop. There's lots more here too,
including lists of publications, archived California weather reports,
and of course, links to other sites.
