 You mean hypae, don't you?  The spores activate, become hypae that attach
to roots and grow 20 feet or more out.  The hypae will not form on plant
roots that are not symbiotic--meaning those that will not feed them
carbohydrates in exchange for NPK and water.

Also the lettuces, legumes, palms, iffy on citrus, orchids and some others I
can't remember off the top of my head.  The stuff that it doesn't work on is
better served by other mycorrhizae strains (we are talking VAM here, because
it's the one in retail circulation), rhizobium and other bacteria.  There is
a microbe or three for every crop.
