Re: Rototilling - What is the alternative


Just to add to the mix....farmers don't rototil their fields but they do disc them.  Is this as destructive as tilling?  Is it acceptable?  Hopefully most of you know that many farmers have switched from the older method of always turning the soil to no-til farming in which seed is sown directly into unturned soil.  Are there down sides to this method?  And what of the traditional English method of double digging?  How does this fit into the scheme of things?
