I've had good luck using straight 5 or 10 percent white vinegar to kill
weeds.  I put it in a spray bottle and apply it that way.  John Dromgoole,
who used to write for Organic Gardening years ago and who runs an organic
gardening supply store in Austin, TX swears by it.  The 10 percent white
vinegar is hard to find--usually people who can pickles use it.  But, I've
used the 5 percent from the grocery store with good results.
