Dear Brook, My latest book, released last year, is Asian Herbs and
Vegetables. The only problem is that it is written for Australia, but having
researched vegetables and herbs in Australia and America I'm confident that
there is not a lot of difference in what's available in shops.
If I were writing a similar article for Australia I would describe Cilantro
(Coriandrum sativum), garlic chives (Allium tuberosum), Brassicas like
Chinese broccoli (B. oleracea Alboglabra Group), Chinese White Cabbage (Bok
Choy, B.rapa Chinensis Group), Chinese cabbage (wong bok, B. rapa Pekininsis
Group) and Mizuna and Mibuna (B. rapa Japonica Group),lemon grass
(Cymbopogan citratus), garland chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum coronarium var.
spatiosum), perilla (also called shiso and beefsteak plant, Perilla
frutescens), Vietnamese mint (hot mint, Persicaria odorata),snakebean
(yard-long bean, Vigna unguiculata ssp. sesquipedalis), ginger (Zingiber
officinale), Japanese bunching onion (Allium fistulosum), Japanese turnip
(Brassica rapa Rapifera Group), taro (Colocasia esculenta), yams (not sweet
potatoes, Dioscorea alata) and Chinese/Japanes radish (daikon, Raphanus
sativus Longipinnatus Group). Also eggplants, chillis and Asian basil. There
are others but it depends on the climate you are writing for temperate,
sub-tropical, tropical?

The site Katy recommended is excellent

another interesting one is

If I can be of any further help please don't hesitate to email me off-list
cheers Penny
