Garden writers' correspondence

Elizabeth Lawrence wrote The Little Bulbs, which, although not strictly
in letter format, is the story of her correspondence with a gardener (in
Ohio?) about their ups and downs growing bulbs (in vastly different
climates). But my favorite is Gardening for Love, The Market Bulletins,
which was edited by Allen Lacy after Lawrence's death. In that book,
she talks about her correspondence with many farmers' wives, whom she
met through the various Southern market bulletins, where the farmers
advertise hogs for sale and the like and wives advertised flower seeds
for sale. Her friend Eudora Welty told her about the bulletins. It's a
dear book, as all Lawrence's books are.
