Title: Web sites on the GWL website People:
We have the rudiments of a GWL website started. Now we, and emphasize the "WE" need other things done.
To begin with, we need a web site designer. The basic site is functional, but needs more work to be eye-catching, as well as more easily located by search engines and such. Contact me offlist on this.
Next, we need material. Without content, the site isn't much good. We do have a list of member's websites, which is included at the end of this. That's a start, but more information is needed. Every member who has a site needs to prepare something about themselves and their site. Be brief, but include all your major activities. Keep it between a quarter and a half page MAXIMUM. Be sure you list things in order of how you want them emphasized. If you are a writer first, and also do some landscape designing (for example) list the writing first, but don't leave out the other activities. What you are doing is something of an "ad" for yourself, your company, or whatever you are, so whatever you put in is what you will attract back.
This is NOT limited to people already on the GWL site or those who have websites - if you want to be listed, just prepare the same sort of material and include your website or contact information.
This information will be used to create categories - garden writers, publishers, editors, supplies, plants, etc. for the members.
Prepare the information in PLAIN TEXT. Fancy fonts and such will be added LATER by the designer. For now, we need CONTENT.
There are more things in the works, but this is the starting point.
You can send the material to me, off list, but put it in ASCII or TXT format if you send it as an attachment. I use a Mac and if I can't open a document, you'll have to do it over. Also, those formats are easiest to convert to HTML for the site.
The GWL web site is for YOU, so it's up to YOU to give your BEST for it.
