There is a nursery supply company near me whose owner is a real stickler for good tools. He found a local man who makes a hoe he designed for use in the hop yards around here, and it's the best heavy duty hoe I've seen. The hoe is obviously hand made, even to the oak handle, and it makes me wonder how many other such local tool designs there are out there.
If you have ever found someone selling a locally made tool that is different from the standard stuff, I'd like to hear about it. Has the age of new tool designs gone all to the big companies, or are there little guys with some good stuff?
