"Gloom and Doom of American Gardening"
Hello Mary Anne, and others,
Ran into a delay in shipment of some much needed supplies for the
nursery and made a trip to the big city to pick up the supplies myself so I
could have them immediately.....
Talked to my hort rep..... first up he states that his commissions are
up 18% thus far this year. Best year he has had in some time. There are
bottle necks in the supply chain all up and down the line ... wholesalers
can not keep up with the demand. Those who cut back and delayed to cut cost
on heating are not supplying the demand. Hort rep says the numbers are up,
just some changes in what is in demand. In spite of national gardening
magazines that do influence gardening, the reality of hort is very much a
local thing....
My writing is no less in demand, nor are my slide presentations and
lecture on gardening... and I stay in a small niche without even trying to
please everyone. Personally I believe there is a lot of life left in hort.
