Re: Picking Your CollectiveBrain
There are three perennial bulbs that I will be adding more of to my zone 5/6
garden this year - hardy cyclamen, crocus and snowdrops. My cyclamen began
showing buds in January and began flowering in early February along with the
witch hazel. The crocus began shortly afterwards. Snowdrops are new to me
this year but I saw a beautiful photo of a garden that had them naturalized
and fell in love.
My Draba is getting ready to bloom. It has been a nice evergreen mound this
winter. Primrose is a perennial I would highly recommend. The older they get
the better they bloom. I have one that is a mound of pure yellow flowers.
Pulmonaria is another favorite for early spring color. For a real splash of
foliage color don't miss Campanula Kelly's Gold. The golden foliage does not
die back for me in the winter and adds a nice splash of color.
Of course I will be adding more witch hazels as bones for my garden. Mine
has bloomed reliably every February and I am looking for Christmas Cheer
which is said to bloom in December.
