Maybe this is dark humor...you don't really know a plant until you've
killed it a few times.
or: The good news is that what looks like disaster is an opportunity
to rethink the garden design or finally get rid of that X or finally
have a place to plant Y -- or visit the nursery and buy a bunch of
plants and actually have somewhere to plant them, for a change,
without having to agonize about what to take out.
or: Haven't you always wanted a water garden? A small pool? THis
weather gives you an opportunity to see what your garden would look
like with a water feature, albeit one you didn't plan.
or: if you've ever had to hire an arborist to take a tree down, you
know it costs a lot to get a crew into the tree. Just think about how
much money this storm has saved you in arborist's fees. All you need
is someone with a chainsaw to convert it to next year's fuel supply.
