Re: Soil Sponge
Hi Mary Ann:
I used it last year in a large cement fountain that (due to lack of parts) has been converted into a somewhat shallow planter (24" diameter, 8 inches deep). It's also located in a spot that we don't pass by regularly but is visible from the street, so I wanted to incorporate something to keep it from drying out.
I used two of the 59 gram bags mixed into bagged potting mix, planted wave petunias, dracaena, and osteospermum. Only remembered to water it twice and it was my best show! I live in Nova Scotia, inland, and it was a typical summer (average 75 - 100 degrees F.) where we needed to water other planters one or two times a week. I couldn't believe how well it did. So, the short answer is 'great'!
Cheers
Carol

Subject: [GWL] Soil Sponge
Somewhere along the line I picked up a case of samples for Soil Sponge and just discovered it in a
great game of hide and seek/ while attempting to spring clean my garage. Ha!.
I can't find any accompanying literature on Soil Sponge. Has anyone tried it, liked it? Disliked?
How did you incorporate it?
Here in Boise, anything I can do to help with watering/water retention is good.
Thanks in advance for your help.
