Gibbs Smith stand on Google Settlement
Dear Garden Writers. What do you think about publisher's
arrangement? I'd opted to go for personal settlement, but they
advised the following.
Subject: RE: Google Settlement
Hello, Mary,
The advantage is that the settlement allows us to opt in to
revenue streams generated by Google. We’ll continue to show your
book on Google but this new settlement allows us greater
flexibility and provides for compensation to the author if we
take advantage of new opportunities.
All the best, Christopher
Christopher, I'm not sure what the benefits are..I reviewed the
site but was quite unclear...could you please advise if I follow
your lead where this leaves me? I'l\m also contacting my book
keeper. Thank you very much! mp
Dear Author,
As you have heard the Author’s Guild and Association of American
Publishers have come to a tentative settlement with Google
regarding the class-action lawsuit focused on scanning
copyrighted books. We’ve included the summary notice from Google.
Gibbs Smith’s position is that we agree with the settlement.
This letter is to provide you the website to review the
settlement and give you an opportunity to withdraw. Instructions
to opt out of the settlement are found through the website
[1]www.googlebooksettlement.com .
There is no reason to reply to this letter. All information is
found on the above website.
Sincerely,
Christopher Robbins
Chief Executive Office
