Re: [GWL]: Garden Design letter
I think our moderator needs to moderate his language.
The first posting about Garden Design was not "a news story based on
gossip and rumor" - the entire post consisted of a quote from a memo
from a senior editor AT GARDEN DESIGN, and headed with the words:
'This just in from Garden Design Magazine'. And nothing more. This
does not qualify as 'gossip and rumour'.
Let's get this clear. The source was a senior editor at Garden
Design, who sent an email to a long list of contacts around the world
explaining that the magazine 'as it currently exists is being shut
down' and detailing some associated business arrangements. This is
pasted into a posting to this list. And the poster is then accused of
posting 'gossip and rumour'. As was made perfectly clear - the
announcement came from Garden Design themselves.
Doubtless there's more to all this than any of us know. But Lon
should not be so disparaging without taking a moment to consider what
the original post actually said. And a more interesting approach
would be to consider why two senior editors have been given such
different stories by the management of the magazine.
