RE: [GWL]: pyrethrum

Jo Ellen,
Along the lines of really picky picky, I learned a few months ago that
"pyrethrum", which I had always used as the term for the organic insecticide
made from chrysanthemum flowers, was in fact a generic term for all
pyrethroid insecticides, both natural and synthetic. The natural pyrethroid
insecticide is called "pyrethrin". All those years of using Red Arrow brand
"pyrethrum" had lead me astray. So we ask, is the EPA study about
"pyrethrum" and therefore about all pyrethroid insecticides both natural and
synthetic.

I'm looking for a source to find an EPA advisory committee study that
suggests pyrethrum may be a carcinogen. I've looked at the EPA sites and
similar kinds of listings -- National Pesticide Telecommunications Network,
but can't find the study.

Any suggestions? This is for a column I'm working on about pyrethrum.

Thanks.
