Re: Bears and bird feeders

Ditto on the hummingbird feeder.  I watched a bear finish off the seed
from the platform feeder, meander over to the dogwood tree, rip the
branch holding the hummingbird feeder off the tree, then drink the food
like a soda, with sugar water dripping down his burly chest.

We don't feed at all during the summer months, anymore, and neither do
our neighbors.  This is in NE PA, outside of Milford.

P.S.  The bear was scared off by a loudy-sung high C (whereas airhorns
and banging pan lids had no effect).
