RE: Black Turnips

Maybe they were black radishes and the local term was "black turnip".  I
believe there are a number of black radish varieties.

Has anyone on the list ever seen or heard of a black turnip? My Grandpa
said he bought these years ago at a local store. He said they were hot.
Since I have decided to grow odd colored vegetables next year (blue
potatoes, red potatoes, yellow green beans and carrots, black radish,
purple carrots, etc.) I have decided I must have these turnips. However,
I cannot locate them, does anyone know where I can find them?
