RE: magazine readership

Okay, I'll bite. Why?
I guess the economic lethargy might make some contribution, but I can't see
that is the main cause.
For some years now, Americans have a decreasing amount of leisure time;
maybe a factor.
I would guess that the increased comfort and use of the Internet for data
gathering is a significant player. I know that Nancy and I use the Internet
as much or more for data than our pile of unread garden magazines.
Magazines are a bit more expensive and maybe are hitting the limits of home
budgets.
If gardening magazines are a model, there is an unfortunate factor of what
feels like repetative topics over the past few years. No coverage of
anything controversial.
Lower circulation means more cutting back on budget means fewer
opportunities for jobs for garden writers. So what else is new?

Subject: [GWL] magazine readership

Print Magazine Readership Dwindling
The number of print magazine subscribers has been declining the
past few years and print magazines have become even less
appealing to readers over the past few months. The circulation drop
is widespread among all categories of print magazines. Many
publications have seen a 15-30% circulation drop over the past 12
months. Source: Newsday.com:
