RE: magazine readership

I doubt if you will ever convince someone who is actually publishing a magazine of that. You are not as much attracting readership as limiting readership.
 
 
I've got to disagree with Duane. I don't believe it's limiting readership--more like serving an underserved market.
 
I'm writing a book aimed at beginners. I wouldn't expect many of the people on this list to buy it. I wouldn't buy it. But the information is aimed at a specific group of people, and will be very useful to them at this stage of their gardening experience.
 
I don't subscribe to a lot of magazines because the content is too basic and/or generic. If there were a more advanced publication, I might order it. I do subscribe to several specialty magazines connected to plant societies.
 
In time I will write a book for a more advanced audience. I'll expect you all to buy it--but guess what...the beginners may pass it by.
