Terrific Story & Photo Opportunity
Today, Nona Koivula, Executive Director of Al-America Selections, and her
staff visited Rotary Gardens in Janesville, WI to see 165 AAS winners from
1933 to 2005. It was my pleasure to be invited, too. Mark Dwyer, Director
of Horticulture at Rotary Gardens, has assembled every AAS winner he could
find and planted them in a lush display garden. There are plants you may
have forgotten about and new ones that are absolute stunners. The garden is
at its prime now and will continue to be so for another 3 weeks--in my
opinion. I spent the day photographing flowers I've only read about.
If you are in the Upper Midwest or will be soon, this display is a must.
The photo and article opportunities abound.
You can find more info on the gardens, including travel directions, at:

Mark is in Michigan leading a tour this week, but you can ask for Mike
Maddox when you call. He can arrange a visit or help you. These people are
very easy to work with, don't mind that you remove signs for photos and will
get you all the information you need.
Rotary Gardens is an 18-acre botanical garden in Janesville, WI, which is
about 75 miles west of Milwaukee, 105 miles northwest of O'Hare in Chicago
and about (I'm guessing) 340 miles southeast of the Twin Cities.
