Canada Gardens to Visit

Also, can any of our Michigan and Canadian list members recommend gardens or
other spots of interest to visit in late Sept. I'm going to Leamington, ON,
across the river from Detroit, for the Yoder Bros. Field Days and am driving
from Illinois. What other good things are there in that area of Canada?

Doreen,

You might want to try Colasanti's. See http://www.colasanti.com Its a pretty well known marketer and grower and in Leamington. There's a few wineries that you no doubt found if you googled Leamington. Most of the great gardens are up in the Niagara region - as far as I know there's no outstanding public gardens down there. But I've been wrong before. (grin) Maybe one of the Toronto folks know of something down there.

Point Pelee is the big birding spot in Canada - its on the major flyway for north and south heading birds. Kinda quaint otherwise. Canadian National Park is there.

That leaves the plant trials, a quick trip to a greenhouse followed by a long winery visit and a lurch out to a National Park to see whatever birds you can focus on. Not a bad day I suppose. (grin)
