Re: Fw: Garden Tools & Gadgets

One good source is the annual "best of the must-haves" lists tested
by the joe gardener co., which come out in the spring.
www.joegardener.com

One of my favorites are 6-inch green nylon pieces for tying tomatoes
that I reuse every year. They're soft and stretchy, they don't tangle
during storage, and they survive a trip through the compost bins. I
bought one small package of them several years ago at a local garden
club's plant sale. But I don't know who makes them or where they're
available; I've long since lost the original packaging.

Biostack compost bins, because they're stackable.

Sunday Afternoons makes great hats, so lightweight they're almost
weightless. People have asked me where I got my hat many times. Here
in Calif., they're sold at street fairs, but are also available
online.

Ellenedith.com has some whimsical fabrics and quiltmaking kits with
garden themes. (I've seen her booth at local street fairs.)

Also -- D-handled digging fork, Japanese weeding knife (hori hori),
bypass pruners that fit my small hands, garden snips (I like the
precise tips of the Fiskars tool), well-fitting gloves, and a
hose-end attachment with settings from mist to shower to flood.

If I were giving anyone pruning tools as a gift, I'd add a copy of a
pruning book or even the video from Plant Amnesty.
