Technology trends -- what's hot (and not)
Gartner has released their technology trend predictions for 2009:
http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/gartner_hype_cycle_2009.php
E-book readers and Internet TV are believed to be at the "Peak of
Inflated Expectations" and Twitter is sliding down into the "Trough
of Disillusionment."
Behavioral economics, 3-D printing, augmented reality, and video
search are on the rise, while tablet PCs, wikis, blogs, and social
network analysis are on the rise up the 'Slope of Enlightenment.'
For what it's worth, I agree with most of what they list. I'm sure
that will impact your interpretation greatly. :) Seriously, though,
maybe this will help you all plan your next big venture.
I can't wait for 3-D printers to become mainstream. It'll be so cool
to design landscapes on the computer and print out a topographically
correct model. And when are those RFID plant tags going to come out?
I'm sick of having to relabel all of my plants every year when the
irrigation washes away the writing. ;)
