Soliciting blog posts from New England garden writers
Hi, everyone. I'm writing to solicit guest posts by New Englanders for the new blog of Mahoney's Garden in Boston and environs. Here it is:
http://www.mahoneysgarden.com/mahoneys-blog
Anyone on this list in New England, please see the details below.
Also, I'm looking for contact info for:
- Roger Swain
- Sara Berg
- Jennifer Benner
- Walter Punch.
Anyone know how to contact them, or ARE you one of them? Please email me! Susan
INFO AND INVITE FOR NEW ENGLAND GARDENING EXPERTS
Mahoney's Gardens has hired me - based on my work with a large garden center in Maryland and my experience as a co-founder of GardenRant - to help them set up, edit and write their new blog , which went live just last week. The purpose of the blog is to be a service to the reader and to the community, not to be another venue for marketing. The blog will provide:
-Great gardening information
- News of New England gardening and greening events and projects
- Profiles of public gardens and gardeners in New England
- Reviews of gardening books, magazines, TV, podcasts
- Etc.
I'll be posting articles on the blog twice a week and Mahoney's local blogger Layanee DeMerchant will be posting at least weekly, too. Here's her blog: http://ledgeandgardens.typepad.com/ and she co-hosts a Boston radio gardening show, too: http://www.garden-guys.com/
Several staffers have already submitted text and photos for articles and more want to be involved.
PLUS, the reason for this email: We're inviting respected and well-known authorities in the region to publish articles on our blog as special guests - articles we'll be promoting widely for maximum exposure. We're looking for two kinds of articles - one paid, one not paid.
- Authors of recent books (or movies, TV shows, etc) are invited to post articles that help promote their books in exchange for - well, helping to promote their book. We're also eager for publishers to provide one copy of the book to give away to a lucky reader/commenter on our blog. We do this regularly on GardenRant and it generates lots of great comments about the subject, and lots of traffic and buzz.
- Experts affiliated with institutions and nonprofits are invited to write guest articles that provide great content AND help promote their institution or nonprofit.
- Experts NOT promoting a book or an employer are invited to post articles of timely interest to our readers, and Mahoney's will pay $100 per post. They've budgeted for one paid guest post per month. Again, we'll be making a fuss over each of our guest authors - with links to websites, mentions of credentials, etc - and promoting each "special guest blogger" widely.
If you're interested in any of these types of guest posts, please let me know which type it would be, and what topic you're like to cover, also when you'd like it published.
We'll soon be sending out press releases announcing the blog and promoting it via social media, and we hope to be able to name a few of our upcoming guests. We look forward to hearing from you - soon. Susan
PS. Also, if you can think of any more great links we should include in the right sidebar, let me know.
