Re: Skimmia (Suzanne Pierot)

Fieldstone Gardens in Maine sells Bergenia cordifolia
(_www.FieldstoneGardens.com_ (http://www.FieldstoneGardens.com) ); seed for Begonia grandis ssp.
evansiana is available from _www.robsplants.com/plants/BegonGrand.php_
(http://www.robsplants.com/plants/BegonGrand.php) ; Herronswood in Warminster,
PA, sells several cultivars (_www.herronswood.com_
(http://www.herronswood.com) ) as does Taylor Greenhouses (_www.taylorgreenhouses.com/index.html_
(http://www.taylorgreenhouses.com/index.html) ) in Portland, NY.
Skimmia japonica is rated hardy only in Zone 7 and warmer, so you may want
to pass. It will survive in colder locations but likely will require
significant winter protection, and who wants to bother with that when other fine
shrubs are available.

Hope this helps. Karan Davis Cutler
