I love *Garden and Gun* <http://gardenandgun.com/magazine>. Also, *BBC
Gardens Illustrated*,*The English Garden* and* flower<http://www.flowermag.com/>
* magazine. All of these magazines have really good writing, and I find I
always learn something from them.
In addition, I subscribe to *Organic Gardening, Fine Gardening,* *
Horticulture* and *Oklahoma Gardener*. From these magazines, I spot trends.
My mother in law sends me *Birds and Bloom*. Last week, I read with interest
about the overall derision for B&B. Although it isn't the best writing, and
the photos are very enhanced, it serves a purpose and has a huge following
especially of older gardeners and bird watchers. Older people don't get out
as much as a general rule, and their vision is dimmer. Therefore, I
understand why B&B makes their photos bright and bold. As a caveat, I've
written two small regional pieces for B&B, and I got more reader response
from those pieces (one gentleman called me from Athens, Georgia) than I have
with any of my other work except my blog. It's something to consider.
I also read several other magazines from the news stand when I have
time. *Heirloom
Garden* is beautiful. *Urban Farm* is a particular favorite. In fact, I just
subscribed.
