Who SHOULD write a govt g'ing blog?

Since I just found this posting on the list serve I feel I must reply. I
wear two hats as so many of us do. I am a garden writer with a book soon to
be published, a columnist, lecturer and a radio personality. My main job
that has the health care, etc. is the greenhouse manager/horticulturist for
our county parks which include over 12,000 acres of parkland. We do have
limited space on our server but I do have my own webpage on our site and try to
educate the public about things such as invasive species or how to figure
out how much mulch to buy for the landscape.
Everyone is complaining about their taxes and don't want them to go up
but if you want certain things, you are going to have to pay for them.
Besides what I have mentioned so far as my regular job I also do the grant
writing, research contracts, answer public comments and whatever else comes
down the pike. There simply isn't the money to support someone else on the
staff when they already have someone. Now whether or not they are competent
is a different story. I have an A.S. in horticulture, a B.A. in Liberal
Arts, 25+ years in the business, a pesticide applicators license and a food
handlers license. (Don't ask) If we were to start a blog, am I qualified for
the job? Yes I am. There just aren't enough hours in the day to do
everything. So I sympathize with your view but I work in the reality of government.
