Hello Rose Marie
    I own and operate Munchkin Nursery & Gardens, LLC, but do not have a
book published as yet to promote. While my presentations, either directly or
indirectly, promote what I sell in the nursery, the talks remain time and
money away from the nursery. Presentations are also a cash income in off
months. I keep it reasonable for all concerned. $500 per presentation, plus
travel at federal rate, they handle the motel rooms. All fees apply at 50
miles and over. 
    Does this cover 20 plus years of building display gardens so I can
have the experience to write and speak about? The mornings spent
photographing the plants, the gardens, for illustrations in my presentations
and articles? ROI may be a bit tricky considering the pleasure I have had
over the years following my passion...but then it was "my" passion. The
results are business.

Does anyone have a suggestion about the "owning a business" aspect? I come
pretty cheap when my husband and I are hosted at a wonderful Oregon Wine
Country restaurant and I've sold a pile of books.
