echinacea
I'm looking for what experiences people have with some of the new coneflower introductions. Specifically:
* have you found them to be as hardy as the species (E. purpurea, E. pallida) or early hybrids ('Magnus')? Are the flowers/plants long lasting in the garden? Can you describe?
* Is there much variation in the performance of various colors of these plants? For instance, do the yellowish ones do better than the reddish ones? Any particular cultivars that have done better or worse than expected?
* have you noticed any fungus or other diseases? Can you describe?
* what about drought tolerance?
* have you noticed bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects or birds on the plants?
You can reply to me off-list or to the list.
Thanks for your assistance.
