Tips on tipping?


The rules are much the same as in the US. 

15% is considered normal in a restaurant, 10% is acceptable.

At a group meal (8 people or more), tips may already have been included in the bill: check to see (the French words t to look for are Gratuité or Pourboire).

Note that you can ask for separate bills in most Canadian restaurants without a surly response: here, it's the norm for business situations and outings with friends.

Tips in hotels as you would in the US, also taxis, hairdressers, etc.
