[GWL]: Sluggo
Nancy and I tested Sluggo this past season in several raised beds that
previously had serious slug problems. We got to them early in the season,
around early June, and we spread the Sluggo lightly in bare areas we made by
moving the mulch aside. The bait disappeared as did the slugs. While we
don't have the problems of the Northwest, Midwest and eastern gardeners tend
to wait until slug damage is very visable, August and September on the
Hostas for example. By that time the slugs have produced three or four
generations of pests. Getting them early is key and Sluggo, or any of the
other iron phosphate products should do the job effectively and safely. I
think Schultz also sells that product. Maybe I should include the three
brands in the paragraph; I'll have to check with the other two companies.
Later,
Jeff
