The information provided by both the vendors was very clear that certain types of construction would interfere with the signals. There is a new generation being introduced in about a month called 802.11g. It has a much longer range and is priced very similarly to the 802.11b systems. Linksys will be the first company to turn it out. There is an inherent danger though in the longer transmission range...if you don't have the proper firewall protection then all you're doing is increasing the uninvited audience that you're broadcasting to. Both Windows XP and Zonealarm in combination seem to offer pretty good hacker protection though.
