Irradiation of Greens

Michael Pollan had an article in the NY Times Sunday magazine about a half a year ago that talked about the source of that very virulent E. coli. It is a new strain, evolved in the last sixteen years, found only in the guts of feedlot cattle. Put the cattle back on grass and that particular E. coli disappears. Irradiating all greens, instead of dealing with the source of the trouble is a bit like the problem in Israel a few years ago when, so the story goes,?a nighttime curfew on women was purposed because of a rise in the number of women being attacked. Golda Meir saw the source of the problem and suggested the curfew be placed on men. Didn't happen then, not likely to happen now.
