A gentle hint for bloggers -rant alert

I read a significant number of blogs every day and much to my surprise, I
discovered that gardening blogs were far in the minority now.  So I went
looking to find and upgrade my reading list.

I visited a great many blogs (many of you are on this list) and discovered
that more than one garden blogger doesn't want new readers.  I was quite
frankly amazed at this - all these writers out there that don't want new
readers.  

How do I know?  

Because a surprising number of blogs don't have subscription information
front and center on their blog.   In more than one case, I had to search
through the blog to find the tiny link hidden away somewhere.  And much to
my surprise, I was unable to subscribe to an interestingly large number of
blogs because I simply couldn't find the darn link.

And I'm a fairly experienced computer-savvy person.  What's that mean to
your other readers.

Well, maybe they're smarter than I am and can find the darn links.

On the other hand, maybe you're missing subscribers.

Hint - put those subscription links at the top of the blog where we can find
them.  Make them universal links using feedburner or other distribution
system.  If you don't want a univesal distribution system, don't pick just
one reader (like bloglines) because we all use different systems - pick
every one you can.

Pass it on to your blogging friends - make subscribing easy.
