Re: Spam on Blogs

John
My experience is that links with serious problems in them are usually caught
by the spam filters in Wordpress. Most of these are sent via bots.

If human submitted, they haven't been a problem. But you're right - it
could become a problem. So I guess I need to rethink that advice (must be
getting sloppy and not considering the problems with Win systems) :-(

I'm running a Mac and previously was running Linux - both systems are Unix
based and require a password to install anything although I did read of some
problem with Firefox recently (it didn't really worry me).

Windows users are of another kettle of fish altogether and now that y'all
even need an upgrade to Explorer (better do this one if you use it) then
your concern is justified. (check with the Win site for the link) When I
ran Windows, I was firewalled and virus-checked up the whazoo.

If I was unsure and I have been - I'd edit the comment to remove the url and
then leave the comment without it - or (frankly) I'd probably just wipe out
the comment if it "smelt" funny. And you do develop a nose for these things
after a few of them.

Good points John - thanks for bringing them up. And JF - you're in
marketing and you don't blog! I do believe my friend that this makes you a
certifiably endangered species. :-)
