Re: with apologies to our photographers (Doug Green)

Doug says: " . . . here's another (rather good) search engine for
finding free images
online. . . . "

While his apologies are directed at the photographers here who may be
offended by such posts that contribute to the continued decline of
professional licensing of photography, I would also apologize to
those who have high standards and who may want to advance the quality
of garden communication.

Free and almost free sources of photography often have nice eye candy
but the captioning and technical quality of the vast majority of such
images is so inferior to professional garden photography that it
leads to an inevitable diminuation of whatever text may appear with
it. While I can not blame folks for seeking cheap imagery, it is
pretty clear to me that wherever it is used the resulting product
looks generic and unsubstantial - sorta like fast food.

This is increasingly popular on the net, but when you want something
distinctive, please expect to pay for it.
