Of Panelists and Poems

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the list
 Confusion was rampant, some emails were missed.
 Garden writers canât help it, they want to have fun,
 they must comment on typos, with jokes or a pun. 
 âThey ate passionate speakersâ Suzi types and we read,
 and we know she hit âtâ and not ârâ in her speed. 
 But she goes on to say these folks are able,
 To âbring a tremendous amount to the table.â
 We sprang to our keyboards and quickly respond,
 âStep away from the podium!â and then move beyond.
 To comments of passionate speakers consumed,
 Leaving those who donât follow the thread to be doomed.
 We see thin or plump speakers falling like cattle,
 as impassioned presenters are pressed into battle.
 âOn Donner!â we say, but weâre not thinking Jeff.
 We want jokes and not a true cannibal chef.
 Now many are laughing, saying âOMG, yup!â
 When Kirk Brown confesses he canât get it up. 
 Yet we know our dear Kirk to be lively and quick,
 And we quote his response adding parentheses âsic.â
 So speak not a word and go straight to your writing
 Of spreading the gospel of gardening, exciting. 
 Write of plants, tools, techniques, a prolific new bloomer,
 And enter the year with these friends and good humor.
